New Delhi, September 15: India’s combined merchandise and services exports rose 15.55 per cent to an estimated USD 399.27 billion during April-August 2026-27, compared with USD 345.55 billion in the same period last year, the commerce ministry said on Tuesday.
Merchandise exports for the five-month period stood at USD 215.91 billion, up 17.85 per cent, while non-petroleum exports rose 14.39 per cent to USD 180.61 billion. Total imports during the period grew 18.01 per cent to USD 459.65 billion, widening the trade deficit to USD 60.38 billion.
For August 2026 alone, total exports rose 25.41 per cent year-on-year to USD 82.68 billion. Electronic goods exports nearly doubled, up 89.82 per cent to USD 5.55 billion, while petroleum product exports rose 63.27 per cent to USD 6.81 billion and engineering goods exports grew 24.86 per cent to USD 12.32 billion.
Services exports for April-August 2026-27 rose 12.95 per cent, taking the services trade surplus to USD 86.71 billion, up from USD 79.94 billion a year earlier. Singapore, China and the United States were among the top destinations for India’s exports during the period, the ministry said.
