New Delhi: In an inaugural address at the ‘DPIIT-CII National Conference on Ease of Doing Business’ held in New Delhi on November 8, 2023, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal declared that Aspirational Young India will be the driving force behind India’s future growth.

Goyal applauded the industry for its unwavering support of the national initiative for Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) and affirmed that the government is actively working to elevate EoDB to the next level.

The conference, organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), covered crucial areas related to Ease of Doing Business. Discussions included topics such as the way forward for EoDB, the National Single Window System, strengthening dispute resolution mechanisms, and simplifying tax and customs procedures.

During Session 1, focused on EoDB Reforms, DPIIT Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh chaired the discussion. He highlighted the initiatives related to EoDB, state rankings and reforms, the National Single Window System (NSWS), and efforts to minimize compliance burdens. Industry concerns were shared by Ajay Shriram, MD, DCM Shriram Limited, and Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman, Hero Enterprise. Representatives from Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat presented best practices and the implementation of EoDB reforms in their respective states.

Session 2, led by DPIIT Joint Secretary Manmeet Nanda, delved into the National Single Window system as a one-stop solution for all approvals and renewals. Officials from Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, and Central Ministries provided insights into initiatives supporting ease of doing business.

In Session 3, discussions on strengthening the dispute resolution mechanism emphasized streamlining enforcing contracts, decriminalization of business laws, and enhancing the role of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) systems.

Session 4 focused on Easing Paying Taxes and Customs Procedures. Conversations centered around minimizing tax litigation, improving processes related to GST, and streamlining customs procedures for efficient business operations.
