New Delhi: Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, virtually addressed the 4th and 5th convocation ceremonies of IIT Tirupati and extended congratulations to the recipients. During the event, he also inaugurated the Centre of Excellence (CoE) at IIT Tirupati developed in collaboration with Siemens and Wipro. The CoE focuses on “Smart Manufacturing and EV Technologies” and features seven laboratories dedicated to smart manufacturing, EV manufacturing, smart grid, etc.

In his speech, Pradhan expressed confidence that the students of the institution will evolve into creators of wealth and significantly contribute to achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat. He praised the institute’s emphasis on innovation and interdisciplinary research, highlighting its potential to serve as catalysts for socio-economic change by harnessing the energy of Yuva Shakti for global well-being and humanity’s service.

Established in 2015, the Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT Tirupati) operates as an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It holds the status of an Institute of National Importance as per the Act of Parliament of India. With support from its mentoring institute, IIT Madras, IIT Tirupati commenced operations in the academic year 2015-16. The institution launched its academic programs in August 2015, admitting students to the B.Tech program in Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

Research programs including MS and PhD programs began in the academic year 2017. The institute introduced a new B.Tech program in Chemical Engineering in August 2018, followed by M.Tech programs in Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Science disciplines in the same year. The M.Sc program in Mathematics commenced in August 2019. The Master of Public Policy (MPP) program was the latest addition in 2022, addressing the increasing demand for policy professionals in India.
