The initiative is not only about extending government services to citizens but is also to empower women and transgenders for a self-supported and sustainable living.
In a recent development, the Capital Region Urban Transport authorities (an arm of Bhubaneshwar Smart City for project implementation) recently added e-Autos with trained women and transgender drivers to extend last mile connectivity to the citizens.
The e-autos are to provide safe commutation to citizens from door-step to destinations and can be boarded from bus-stops too. After thorough rigorous screening and training with the help of private agencies, CRUT zeroed down to 50 candidates of which 10 are transgenders, who are responsible for the operation of these vehicles at a monthly salary of INR 12000.
The initiative is not only about extending government services to citizens but is also to empower women and transgenders for a self-supported and sustainable living.
