New Delhi: The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has reported a significant surge in new enrollments, with 17.28 lakh workers added to the system in October 2023. The provisional payroll data indicates a noteworthy increase in social security coverage, marking a positive trend in job generation and workforce expansion.

In October 2023, approximately 8.25 lakh young employees, aged up to 25 years, accounted for the majority of new registrations, comprising 47.76% of the total workforce additions during the month. This data underscores the ESIC’s contribution to providing employment opportunities for the youth.

Moreover, 23,468 new establishments were registered under the ESIC scheme in October 2023, further strengthening the social security umbrella and ensuring increased coverage for employees.

A gender-wise analysis of the payroll data reveals that 3.31 lakh female members were enrolled in October 2023, signifying a positive impact on female workforce participation. Additionally, the ESIC extended its benefits to a total of 51 transgender employees in October 2023, demonstrating its commitment to inclusivity and delivering social security benefits to every section of society.

It is important to note that the provided payroll data is provisional, given that data generation is an ongoing and continuous exercise. The substantial increase in enrollments highlights the ESIC’s dedication to fostering employment and expanding social security coverage across the nation.
