ESIC meeting

Gurugram: In a landmark move to expand social security coverage and simplify compliance for industries, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has unveiled two major initiatives — SPREE-2025 and the Amnesty Scheme-2025. The announcement was made by Shri Sunil Yadav, Director (In-charge), ESIC Sub-Regional Office, Gurugram, during a press conference at the PWD Rest House.

The SPREE-2025 (Scheme for Promoting Registration of Employers and Employees), which will run until 31 December 2025, aims to encourage industries and workers not yet registered with ESIC to come on board through the ESI Portal, Shram Suvidha Portal, or Company Affairs Portal. Notably, registrations under this scheme will not attract old dues. Employers will be deemed covered from the date of registration or the declared date, while newly registered employees will immediately receive ESI health and social security benefits. Shri Yadav highlighted that the scheme prioritises voluntary compliance over punitive measures, aiming to cut litigation, foster trust, and create a cooperative environment between employers and employees.

Complementing this, the Amnesty Scheme-2025, to be operational from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026, has been designed as a one-time dispute resolution initiative. It will allow employers to settle long-standing issues relating to damages, interest, and coverage under the ESI Act. The scheme is expected to ease the burden of litigation, enhance compliance, and ensure seamless delivery of benefits to employees.

Industry representatives present at the launch welcomed the initiatives, describing them as a much-needed relief for both small and large enterprises, while also strengthening access to healthcare and social security for workers.

Senior ESIC officials including Sachin Singh, Deputy Director; Dr Sweety Yadav, Public Relations Officer; and Kamlender Kumar, Assistant Director, were also present at the press conference alongside other staff from the Gurugram Sub-Regional Office.

These measures underscore the government’s commitment to expanding social security, promoting ease of doing business, and enhancing the welfare of workers across India’s diverse industrial landscape.
