Bangkok: India and Thailand have reinforced their diplomatic and economic relations with a series of landmark agreements following the visit of the Indian Prime Minister to Thailand. The two nations formally established a Strategic Partnership through a Joint Declaration, signalling a new era of cooperation across multiple sectors.
Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), covering areas such as digital technology, maritime heritage, small business collaboration, and regional development, were signed between the two countries.
Key agreements include:
- A MoU on Digital Technologies between India’s Ministry of Electronics and IT and Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, aimed at fostering cooperation in innovation and digital transformation.
- A maritime heritage agreement between India’s Sagarmala Division and Thailand’s Fine Arts Department to contribute to the development of the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, Gujarat.
- A collaboration between MSMEs of both countries through an MoU between India’s National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) and Thailand’s Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP).
- A regional development partnership between India’s Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) and Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on economic and cultural exchanges.
- A handicrafts and creative economy MoU between India’s North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation (NEHHDC) and Thailand’s Creative Economy Agency (CEA), aimed at promoting traditional crafts and entrepreneurship.
The agreements underscore a deepening partnership between the two nations, strengthening economic, cultural, and technological ties for mutual benefit.
