New Delhi: India’s space economy has experienced significant growth, particularly in the last nearly ten years and more prominently in the last five years under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stated Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today.

Due to the liberalization of the space sector, the emergence of space startups, and industry linkages, India’s space economy is projected to reach $100 billion in the coming years, according to foreign trade experts who are impressed by India’s remarkable progress.

Dr Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, made these remarks while inaugurating the Capacity Building Programme on Geospatial Technology & Applications. The event was organized jointly by ISRO and the Capacity Building Commission (CBC) through video conferencing.

Dr Jitendra Singh highlighted the pivotal role of geospatial technology in PM Gati Shakti infrastructure development programs and SVAMTVA land mapping. He emphasized that space technology is becoming an integral component of India’s overall economy, contributing significantly to the country’s growth.

Calling for increased synergy between research, academia, startups, and industry, Dr Jitendra Singh commended ISRO for taking the initiative. The Capacity Building program on Geospatial Technology & its Applications aims to raise awareness and motivate youth to make wider use of this technology.

Dr Jitendra Singh emphasized the importance of more frequent and extensive capacity-building programs, acknowledging the role of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation in supplementing the entire ecosystem.

He concluded by expressing his confidence that the youth of today would witness India’s progress as envisioned by PM Modi for India@2047, celebrating the nation’s grand entry into Swarnimkaal.

The event was attended by Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman, ISRO, Shri S. Somanath, CBC Chairman Shri Adil Zainulbhai, and senior officials.
