Western Australia:  In a momentous development, NMDC expands its mineral portfolio with the inauguration of the Mount Celia Gold Operation, marking a significant milestone in the company’s history.

Today, in Western Australia, the inauguration ceremony for the mining operations at the Mount Celia Gold Project took place. The event was graced by Shri Nagendra Nath Sinha, Secretary of the Ministry of Steel, who unveiled this groundbreaking initiative. The project, led by Legacy Iron Ore Limited, a subsidiary of the state-owned Steel CPSE, NMDC Ltd, represents the company’s unwavering commitment to diversifying its mineral assets. Notably, this achievement is monumental as it heralds the addition of NMDC’s first gold mine to its extensive portfolio.

This momentous occasion also signifies the successful culmination of an arduous process, involving the attainment of all necessary statutory approvals and the finalization of the mining contract with Bain Global Resources. Rapid progress has been made in surface and mine infrastructure works, setting the stage for ore mining to commence in the Blue Peter pits in the forthcoming weeks. The first ore destined for processing at the Paddington Gold Mine is scheduled for CYQ1, 2024, and it is poised to become a significant contributor to India’s gold production landscape.

The Ministry of Steel takes pride in celebrating this remarkable milestone. NMDC, a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Steel, continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening India’s mining and mineral resources sector.
