New Delhi: The Ministry of Coal achieved a notable increase in coal production during January 2024, reaching 99.73 Million Tonnes (MT), which surpassed the previous year’s figure of 90.42 MT by 10.30%. Coal India Limited (CIL) saw its production rise to 78.41 MT in January 2024, reflecting a 9.09% growth compared to January 2023’s 71.88 MT. Cumulative Coal Production (up to January 2024) witnessed a significant leap to 784.11 MT (Provisional) in FY’ 23-24 from 698.99 MT in FY’ 22-23, indicating a growth of 12.18%.
Coal dispatch also experienced a noteworthy increase in January 2024, reaching 87.37 MT compared to January 2023’s 82.02 MT, with a growth rate of 6.52%. Meanwhile, Coal India Limited dispatch showed outstanding performance, reaching 67.56 MT in January 2024, up from 64.45 MT in January 2023, representing a growth of 4.83%. Cumulative Coal dispatch, till January 2024, stood at 797.66 MT in FY’ 23-24, compared to 719.78 MT during the corresponding period in FY’ 22-23, reflecting a commendable growth of 10.82%.
As of January 31, 2024, coal companies held a notable surge in coal stock, reaching 70.37 MT, indicating an impressive annual growth rate of 47.85% and highlighting the robust performance and efficiency of the coal sector. Additionally, coal stock at Thermal Power Plants, specifically at the location identified as DCB, witnessed a notable increase to 36.16 MT on the same date, with an annual growth rate of 15.26%.
These statistics underscore the coal sector’s resilience and commitment to meeting the nation’s energy demands. The Ministry of Coal remains steadfast in fostering sustained growth and efficiency within the sector.
