New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier, on Wednesday, chaired the meeting of the 43rd edition of PRAGATI, the ICT-based multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, involving Centre and State governments.

During the meeting, a total of eight projects were reviewed, comprising four projects related to water supply and irrigation, two projects aimed at expanding National highways and connectivity, and two projects focusing on rail and metro rail connectivity. These projects have a cumulative cost of approximately Rs. 31,000 crore and pertain to 7 states, namely Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Odisha, West Bengal, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan Portal, in conjunction with technologies like satellite imagery, can effectively address various issues concerning the implementation and planning related to location and land requirements for projects.

He also instructed that all stakeholders responsible for executing projects in densely populated urban areas appoint nodal officers and form teams to facilitate better coordination.

Regarding irrigation projects, the Prime Minister suggested organizing visits for stakeholders to witness successful Rehabilitation and Reconstruction work. This demonstration of the transformative impact of such projects can serve as motivation for stakeholders to expedite project execution.

During the interaction, the Prime Minister also reviewed the ‘Mobile Towers and 4G Coverage under USOF Projects.’ Under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), 33,573 villages with 24,149 mobile towers are slated for complete mobile connectivity. The Prime Minister emphasized the need to ensure the installation of mobile towers in all uncovered villages within the current financial year, with regular meetings involving all stakeholders. This approach will guarantee comprehensive mobile coverage even in the most remote areas.

As of the 43rd edition of PRAGATI meetings, 348 projects with a total cost of Rs. 17.36 lakh crore have been reviewed.
