Pune:  The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, presented the prestigious President’s Colour to the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune on December 1, 2023. Additionally, she virtually inaugurated the Armed Forces Centre for Computational Medicine, named ‘Prajna’.

During the ceremony, the President highlighted the esteemed reputation of AFMC as a pinnacle institution in medical education. She commended the graduates for their unwavering commitment and service during wartime, counter-insurgency operations, natural disasters, and global pandemics.

Smt Droupadi Murmu expressed her satisfaction at the notable contributions made by female cadets from AFMC to the armed forces medical field, holding prominent positions. She encouraged more women to pursue careers in the armed forces, drawing inspiration from these accomplished individuals.

In her address, the President acknowledged the evolving landscape of medical technology, emphasizing the role of Armed Forces Medical Services in utilizing Artificial Intelligence, Precision medicine, 3D printing, telemedicine, and other advanced technologies. She stressed the importance of maintaining the highest medical standards for all personnel across the three services and urged AFMC to prioritize research and embrace the latest advancements in the medical field.

The President expressed confidence in AFMC’s commitment to excellence and encouraged the continued pursuit of high standards in their work.
