Khunti, Jharkhand: In a significant move to support farmers nationwide, the Prime Minister released the 15th instalment of over Rs 18,000 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. This release, marking the birthday of Shri Bhagwan Birsa Munda celebrated as JanJaatiya Gaurav Divas, aims to provide crucial financial assistance to farmers across India.
On the occasion, PM Modi launched the PM Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan, allocating a budget of Rs 24,000 crore for the holistic development of tribal communities. Additionally, on the foundation day of Jharkhand, the Prime Minister dedicated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth approximately Rs 7,200 crore in sectors such as rail, road, education, coal, petroleum, and natural gas.
The event saw a warm welcome extended to the Prime Minister by tribal artists, and it witnessed the presence of thousands of enthusiastic farmers, both in-person and online. Among the dignitaries present were Governor of Jharkhand, C. P. Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Hemant Soren, and Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda.
In his address, the Prime Minister spoke about his visit to Ulihatu Village and the Freedom Fighter Museum in Ranchi. He extended greetings on Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas, paying homage to the revered revolutionary Bhagwan Birsa Munda. PM Modi also conveyed his wishes on the Foundation Day of Jharkhand, highlighting the contributions of Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee in its formation.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting various pillars for India’s development, PM Modi highlighted achievements in poverty alleviation, sanitation, LPG connections, healthcare, and more. He shared his vision for a future where essential services and benefits reach every individual through government schemes. Underlining the government’s investment in tribal communities, PM Modi mentioned a budget increase of 6 times for the tribal ministry.
Discussing the 15th instalment of PM-KISAN, PM Modi shared that over Rs 2,75,000 crores have been sent to farmers’ accounts. He highlighted initiatives for cattle farmers and fishermen, livestock vaccination, support for fish farming, and the creation of new Farmer Produce Unions. The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s efforts to promote Indian produce in foreign markets and celebrated 2023 as the International Millet Year.
The event signifies a crucial step in the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and ensuring the holistic development of tribal communities.
