Noida: S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, inaugurated the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Chip Design at its Noida campus yesterday. This initiative, set up in partnership with SoCTeamup Semiconductors Pvt Ltd, a DPIIT-recognised startup, is an important step toward advancing India’s semiconductor design and development capabilities.
The launch of the NIELIT Centre of Excellence in Chip Design aligns with the Indian government’s vision to enhance semiconductor technology capabilities and strengthen India’s position as a global leader in Electronics and IT.
The new Centre of Excellence aims to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the semiconductor and chip design sectors. It will provide state-of-the-art facilities for research, innovation, and training in VLSI (Very Large-Scale Integration) and Chip Design.
The Centre has the goal of becoming a global leader in semiconductor innovation by advancing VLSI and chip design. It will support India in becoming a hub for cutting-edge electronics and IT. The Centre will drive innovation, develop a skilled workforce, and strengthen India’s position in the global electronics and IT industries.
During the inauguration, S. Krishnan visited the Centre’s advanced facilities, including the Project Lab and Smart Classroom. The Project Lab will be a collaborative space for students, professionals, and researchers to work on innovative chip design projects. The Smart Classroom, equipped with modern teaching aids, will provide an engaging learning experience for students.
A special demonstration of VLSI-based Intellectual Property (IP) was also conducted, highlighting the Centre’s dedication to advancing the design and development of intellectual property in the semiconductor sector. The demonstration emphasized the Centre’s role in building a strong knowledge base in VLSI and preparing talent to meet the growing demands of the industry.
The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. NIELIT promotes education, training, and research in Electronics, IT, and related technologies.
