Nepal: On Monday afternoon, a 5.6 magnitude earthquake originating in Nepal sent strong tremors throughout northern India, including Delhi-NCR. This marks the second occurrence of such seismic activity in the region within three days, caused by a significant earthquake in Nepal.
The most recent earthquake occurred at 4.14 pm, striking in the same vicinity where a magnitude 6.4 earthquake had previously hit on November 3, resulting in the loss of approximately 155 lives in Nepal. The National Center for Seismology reported that Monday’s earthquake had a depth of 10km.
On November 3, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake had rattled Nepal, causing tremors to ripple across northern India, including the national capital region. This earthquake struck at 11.32 pm, prompting residents to evacuate their homes. It led to approximately 155 casualties in Nepal, with over 250 individuals sustaining injuries.
Nepal’s location places it within one of the most active tectonic zones in the world, falling under seismic zones IV and V, which renders the country highly susceptible to earthquakes.
