PM Narendra Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the festival of Diwali this year has brought “double happiness” for thousands of young Indians as over 51,000 new recruits received their appointment letters for permanent government jobs under the Rozgar Mela initiative. Speaking via video conferencing, the Prime Minister called the appointments not merely jobs, but “an opportunity to serve the nation with integrity and dedication.”

Addressing the newly recruited youth, the Prime Minister said, “Receiving appointment letters for permanent jobs amidst the festivities, the joy of celebration and the double happiness of success, has been bestowed upon more than 51,000 young people across the country today. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to each of you and your families.”

Youth at the Centre of National Growth

PM Modi underlined that the enthusiasm, energy, and dreams of India’s youth will not only determine their personal success but also shape the nation’s progress. “You have not just received a government appointment; you have been given the opportunity to actively contribute to national service,” he said, urging the recruits to work with a spirit of service and integrity.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the mantra “Nagrik Devo Bhava” – citizens are like gods – should guide every government employee’s work ethic. “With a spirit of service and dedication, we must never forget how we can be useful in the lives of every citizen,” he said.

Empowering Youth, Building a Developed India

PM Modi reminded the gathering that over the last eleven years, the government has made youth empowerment one of its top priorities. He cited the growing number of Rozgar Melas – job fairs – as a crucial part of this effort. “Through these job fairs alone, more than 11 lakh appointment letters have been issued recently,” he said, adding that the initiative now extends beyond government jobs.

The Prime Minister highlighted the newly launched ‘PM Vikasit Bharat Rojgar Yojana’, which aims to provide employment to 3.5 crore youth across India. “This scheme reflects our government’s commitment to ensure that every young Indian has the opportunity to contribute to nation-building,” he said.

Bridging Skills and Opportunities

Speaking about other employment-related initiatives, Modi said the Skill India Mission and the National Career Service Platform have become powerful bridges connecting talent with opportunity. “Through the National Career Service platform alone, information about more than 70 million vacancies has been provided to youth so far,” he stated, calling it “no small achievement.”

He also introduced the ‘Pratibha Setu Portal’, designed to ensure that the hard work of aspirants who reach the UPSC final list but don’t make the final cut does not go in vain. “Through this portal, private and public institutions can invite, interview, and offer opportunities to these young people. This wise utilisation of youth talent will bring India’s youth potential to the world,” he explained.

GST Reforms Fueling Job Creation

In a unique link between fiscal reform and job growth, the Prime Minister spoke about the ‘GST Savings Festival’ and its broader economic impact. He said that GST rate reductions have not only led to consumer savings but also boosted job creation.

“When everyday goods become cheaper, demand also increases. When demand rises, production and supply chains gain momentum. And when factories produce more, new jobs are created,” he said, describing GST reforms as catalysts for employment generation.

PM Modi pointed to record-breaking sales during Dhanteras and Diwali, which he said reflected the “new vitality” in the economy. “The GST reforms have given a new impetus to the country’s economy. We are also seeing the positive impact of this reform in the MSME sector and retail trade,” he said, highlighting the resulting surge in employment across manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and distribution sectors.

Global Partnerships, Global Opportunities

PM Modi also linked India’s international partnerships with domestic job creation. “Even our foreign policy is focused on the interests of India’s youth,” he said, noting that recent diplomatic agreements and MoUs include provisions for youth training, upskilling, and job generation.

He mentioned the recent visit of the British Prime Minister, during which India and the UK agreed to boost investments in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, fintech, and clean energy. “The free trade agreement signed between India and the UK a few months ago will also create new opportunities,” he said.

He added that investment partnerships with countries such as Brazil, Singapore, Korea, and Canada will support start-ups and MSMEs, increase exports, and open up global projects for Indian youth. “These agreements will bring thousands of new jobs and expand India’s global footprint,” he emphasised.

Technology and Governance Go Hand in Hand

Looking ahead, PM Modi urged the newly recruited employees to embrace technology and continuous learning. He spoke about the iGot Karmayogi Bharat platform, which is helping government employees upgrade their skills and adopt better governance practices.

“Nearly 1.5 crore employees are already learning and upgrading their skills by joining this platform. If you also join them, you will develop a new work culture and a sense of good governance,” he advised.

“India’s Future Lies in the Hands of Young Karmayogis”

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister called upon the recruits to see themselves as “Karmayogis” – selfless workers committed to the nation’s progress. “The successes and vision of the country that we are talking about today – you will have a major role to play in them in the times to come,” he said.

He reiterated that India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation depends on the energy, integrity, and innovation of its young citizens. “It is through your efforts that India’s future will take shape, and the dreams of the countrymen will come true,” he said, signing off with warm wishes: “I once again wish you all the best. Thank you very much.”
