Coalfields: In an impressive display of progress, the Ministry of Coal achieved substantial milestones in coal production and dispatch during October 2023. Total coal production for the month reached an impressive 78.65 Million Tonnes (MT), marking a notable increase of 18.59% compared to the same month in the previous year, which recorded 66.32 MT.
Coal India Limited (CIL) played a pivotal role in this growth, as its production soared to 61.07 MT in October 2023,demonstrating a remarkable 15.36% increase from the 52.94 MT produced in October 2022.
The cumulative coal production for the fiscal year 2023-24, up to October, reached a significant 507.02 MT, a substantial increase from the 448.49 MT achieved during the same period in the fiscal year 2022-23, representing a growth rate of 13.05%.
In addition to the remarkable production figures, coal dispatch also witnessed a substantial uptick. In October 2023, coal dispatch reached an impressive 79.30 MT, reflecting substantial progress compared to the 67.13 MT recorded in October 2022, with a growth rate of 18.14%. Coal India Limited (CIL) demonstrated commendable dispatch performance, reaching 61.65 MT in October 2023, compared to 53.69 MT in October 2022, indicating a growth rate of 14.83%.
The cumulative coal dispatch for the fiscal year 2023-24, up to October, experienced a significant surge to 541.73 MT, a notable increase from the 483.78 MT during the corresponding period in the fiscal year 2022-23, reflecting a growth rate of 11.98%.
This remarkable upswing in both coal production and dispatch underscores the nation’s progressing journey towards energy self-sufficiency. It reaffirms the Ministry of Coal’s unwavering commitment to ensuring consistent coal production and distribution, thereby securing a reliable energy supply that bolsters the nation’s ongoing development.
