Lonavala, Maharashtra : President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the centenary year celebrations of Kaivalyadhama at a national conference in Lonavala, Maharashtra on November 29, 2023. Addressing the attendees, she emphasized the invaluable contribution of yoga to the global community, noting that Yoga Day has been observed worldwide since 2015.
The President highlighted the United Nations General Assembly’s recognition of yoga’s holistic benefits to health and well-being. She pointed out the significance of incorporating Indian knowledge traditions, especially yoga, into the National Education Policy 2020 to make these benefits accessible to children and the younger generation.
Emphasizing yoga as a path to overall development, the President underlined its effectiveness in physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual progress. Referring to the 20th century, she credited personalities like Swami Kuvalayananda for promoting the scientific approach and utility of the yoga system. Swami Kuvalayananda advocated for the integration of yoga education in schools, and the President expressed confidence that Kaivalya Vidya Niketan, a school run by Kaivalyadhama Sansthan, will serve as an inspiring example.
President Droupadi Murmu expressed optimism that Kaivalyadhama will continue to bridge the gap between yoga tradition and science, guiding the global community, especially the youth, on the path of holistic development.
