New Delhi: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) conceptualized the ‘Cyber Surakshit Bharat’ initiative to increase awareness about cybercrime and enhance the capabilities of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and frontline IT officials across all government departments. This initiative aims to ensure adequate safety measures are in place to combat the growing menace of cybercrime, enabling organizations to defend their digital infrastructures and prepare for future cyber-attacks.
The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under its Capacity Building scheme, organized the 42nd CISO Deep-Dive training programme from February 5-9, 2024, with participants from various states at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi.
Eminent dignitaries, including Bhuvnesh Kumar, Additional Secretary of MeitY, S N Tripathi, DG-IIPA, and other senior officials from MeitY, NeGD, and IIPA, attended the inaugural session of the program. Stressing the importance of cybersecurity in the face of growing cyber-attacks, Bhuvnesh Kumar highlighted the significant role of CISOs in the digital era, emphasizing two critical areas where CISOs play a role: threat mitigation and incident response. He also underscored the importance of CERT-In guidelines for all CISOs.
The program’s aim is to raise awareness, enhance capacities, and enable government departments to create a cyber-resilient ecosystem. It seeks to sensitize and orient participants on cyber safety and security, facilitating the Digital India program for integrated delivery of various government services to citizens. The program also provides comprehensive information and knowledge about cybersecurity to enable government departments to maintain their cyber hygiene, safety, and security.
Since June 2018 to February 2024, NeGD has successfully conducted 42 batches of CISO deep-dive training programs for over 1,574 CISOs and frontline IT officials.
