New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with students on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, observed as Parakram Diwas, in the Central Hall of Parliament, New Delhi, on Thursday. When asked about the nation’s goal by 2047, a student confidently stated, “to make India a Developed Nation (Viksit Bharat).” Another student elaborated that by 2047, their generation would be ready to serve the nation during its centenary of Independence.

The Prime Minister enquired about the day’s significance, and students highlighted it as Netaji’s birth anniversary, noting his birthplace in Cuttack, Odisha. He mentioned a grand celebration in Cuttack and asked which of Netaji’s sayings inspired them most. A student quoted, “Give me blood, and I promise you freedom,” praising Netaji’s dedication to the country, which continues to inspire action. She shared her motivation to reduce India’s carbon footprint in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Discussing green initiatives, the student referred to the introduction of electric vehicles and buses. The Prime Minister highlighted that over 1,200 electric buses funded by the Union government are operating in Delhi, with more planned.


He also introduced the PM Suryagarh Yojana, a scheme promoting rooftop solar panels to produce electricity. This eliminates electricity bills, reduces fossil fuel dependency, and enables charging of electric vehicles, helping curb pollution. Additionally, households can sell surplus electricity back to the government for financial gain, empowering individuals to profit from renewable energy
