New Delhi: In a move aimed at making election-related services more citizen-friendly, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has activated the National Voter Helpline and launched a new “Book-a-Call with BLO” facility. These services are designed to provide quick, transparent, and accessible solutions to all voter queries and grievances.
The National Contact Centre (NCC), which acts as the central helpline for the entire country, can now be reached through the toll-free number 1800-11-1950. Citizens can call between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, any day of the week. Trained executives at the NCC will respond to calls, offering help on voter registration, correction of voter details, locating polling stations, and other election-related matters.
To ensure faster and more localised support, the ECI has also directed all States, Union Territories, and Districts to set up their own State Contact Centres (SCCs) and District Contact Centres (DCCs). These centres function during regular office hours on working days and handle calls in the regional languages of their respective areas.
Every query or complaint received through these centres is documented and tracked using the National Grievance Service Portal (NGSP 2.0), ensuring accountability and follow-up until resolution.
One of the most innovative features introduced by the ECI is the “Book-a-Call with BLO” option. Through this facility, citizens can directly schedule a call with their Booth Level Officer (BLO) using the ECINET platform. This allows voters to interact with the officials responsible for their polling booth area, helping them resolve issues like voter list corrections or address changes more efficiently.
Additionally, citizens can also connect with election officials through the ECINet App, further simplifying communication. The ECI has instructed all Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), District Election Officers (DEOs), and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to monitor complaints regularly and ensure that all requests are addressed within 48 hours.
Apart from these facilities, voters can still reach out via email at complaints@eci.gov.in for any election-related issues.
The Election Commission has urged all citizens to actively use the 1950 Voter Helpline and Book-a-Call with BLO services for information, feedback, and grievances. These efforts reflect ECI’s commitment to making electoral processes more transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric—bringing governance closer to the people, one call at a time.
