New Delhi: Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved ₹340.59 crore for Rajasthan and ₹265.12 crore for Telangana under two major agricultural schemes, based on their spending progress and the needs of farmers.
The funds are being allocated under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PMRKVY) and Krishonnati Yojana. The approvals followed a review of the states’ annual action plans, utilisation of earlier sanctions and expenditure recorded so far.
Chouhan held a virtual meeting from Bhopal on Thursday with Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirori Lal Meena and Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao. Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Secretary Atish Chandra, senior Union government officials and agriculture officials from both states also attended.
Rajasthan gets ₹340.59 crore
Rajasthan’s Project Approval Committee meeting on April 20, 2026, approved an annual action plan of ₹849.37 crore for 2026-27. This included a Central share of ₹509.62 crore.
The state received its first Mother Sanction of ₹216.13 crore on May 4. It has since spent ₹164.39 crore, or 76.06 per cent of the sanctioned amount.
Following the latest approval, Rajasthan is being allocated ₹340.59 crore. Of this, ₹216.12 crore will be provided under RKVY and ₹124.47 crore under Krishonnati Yojana.
Chouhan called for particular attention to the Kisan Credit Card situation in Rajasthan so farmers can get timely and hassle-free access to credit. He also wished the state government well in its efforts towards the overall development of agriculture.
Telangana allocated ₹265.12 crore
Telangana’s Project Approval Committee meeting, held on April 27, 2026, approved an annual action plan of ₹651.06 crore for 2026-27, including a Central share of ₹390.63 crore.
A first Mother Sanction of ₹157.65 crore was issued on May 12. The state has spent ₹96.05 crore so far, accounting for 60.93 per cent of the sanctioned amount.
Telangana will now receive ₹265.12 crore. This includes ₹157.66 crore under RKVY and ₹107.46 crore under Krishonnati Yojana.
Chouhan also praised Telangana’s new Farmer ID and fertiliser distribution model. He said the system could help provide services to farmers in a more transparent and effective manner.
However, he noted that Telangana’s expenditure under the Oilseeds and Pulses Missions was relatively behind schedule. He asked the state to regularly monitor spending and the progress of these programmes.
Focus on faster implementation of farm schemes
Chouhan said the latest financial approvals were intended to support timely and effective implementation of agricultural schemes in Rajasthan and Telangana.
He said the Central Government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and guidance, was working closely with states to strengthen resources, technical assistance and monitoring for farmers’ welfare.
The allocations are expected to support work related to agricultural infrastructure, improving productivity, providing inputs and implementing farmer welfare programmes in both states. Chouhan said the release of funds should help states speed up implementation and ensure that the benefits of the schemes reach farmers more effectively.
