New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered the courage of those affected by Partition as the country marked Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, describing it as a moment in history that tore apart several lives. In a series of posts on X, he said families were uprooted, loved ones were lost and immense suffering was endured, and urged people to work together to preserve harmony and brotherhood.
Modi said those who lived through that period did not stay defined by it. Many rebuilt their lives from nothing, turned adversity into achievement and went on to contribute a great deal to the country’s progress. Their life journeys, he said, are a reminder of the strength of the human spirit.
A call for harmony and Viksit Bharat
The Prime Minister expressed the hope that the day would deepen the country’s resolve to preserve harmony and brotherhood, and that people would collectively work towards building a Viksit Bharat. He called on everyone to further strengthen the national spirit of goodwill and solidarity.
He also offered his tributes to those countrymen who emerged from that period and made invaluable contributions to the country’s progress. Through their courage and capability, he said, they showed how resolutions are accomplished even in adverse circumstances.
Sanskrit verse on hard work over fate
Along with his message, Modi shared a Subhashitam, a Sanskrit verse, making the case for effort over fate. He said it is hard work, enterprise and dedicated effort that allow diverse arts, science, technological skills, craftsmanship and innovations to flourish, opening the way to success.
Nobody should stay dependent on fate, he said. The better course is to move steadily towards one’s goals with courage, diligence and persistent effort, because it is human endeavour that shapes destiny.
