NEW DELHI: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will visit the United States from 29 September to 5 October 2026 to attend the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meeting and hold discussions aimed at advancing the proposed India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement.
The G20 meeting will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on 30 September and 1 October at the invitation of the US Trade Representative. The Commerce Ministry said India would use the meeting to support a rules-based, open, inclusive, transparent and non-discriminatory multilateral trading system, with the World Trade Organization at its core.
India-US trade agreement on agenda
Goyal is also scheduled to engage with his US counterpart as part of continuing efforts to advance a balanced and mutually beneficial bilateral trade agreement and finalise an interim deal in line with the joint statement of 7 February 2026.
On the sidelines of the G20 meeting, he will hold bilateral meetings with other trade ministers. According to the ministry, the discussions will include opportunities for farmers, fishermen, women entrepreneurs, startups, micro, small and medium enterprises and other businesses.
Meetings with US companies
In Milwaukee and Chicago, Goyal will meet chief executives from manufacturing, consumer goods, agri-business, retail and technology companies. He will also participate in roundtables with businesses, startups and innovative companies.
The government said the minister would present India as a manufacturing and investment destination and invite American companies to deepen partnerships with Indian enterprises.
During his Chicago programme, Goyal will also interact with professional associations representing the Indian community.
