New Delhi, October 4: Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh will chair the 17th Pension Adalat in New Delhi on Monday, 5 October, where 897 long-pending grievances of super-senior pensioners and family pensioners are due to be taken up, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions said on Sunday.
The adalat will be held at the T. N. Chaturvedi Memorial Hall of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA). The cases relate to 24 ministries and departments and were filed through the CPENGRAMS portal.
In person or by video link
Pensioners whose cases are listed can attend in person or join by video conference. The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) started Pension Adalats in 2017 as an alternative way of settling complaints on the spot, so that pensioners do not have to go through costly litigation. The department describes it as a whole-of-government approach, with the departments concerned present to settle each case.
Over 20,000 cases settled so far
According to the department, the first 16 Pension Adalats settled 20,676 of the 28,797 grievances taken up on the spot, a success rate of 71.79%. The 16th adalat was held on 13 May 2026.
On Monday, flyers with success stories from the 16th adalat will be released, along with a booklet of frequently asked questions on issues faced by family pensioners.
