The Delhi State Government to flag off, as many as 100 new to be added in its public transport fleet by the coming week, asserted an official statement by the state government. The commencement is added a week after the Delhi Government sanctioned over 1500 low-floor e-buses to be operated under the state-run transport agency, Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).

Earlier this year in January 2022, the Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal announced adding 300 more e-buses in its public transport fleet, while inaugurating the first e-bus. Kejriwal also added on to unveil the state government’s ambitious plan to add on as many as 2000 e-buses in the fleet in the coming years. As a matter of fact, the first e-bus announced had zero tail-pipe emission.

While presently DTC have only 2 e-buses allocated in Mundela Kalan and Rohini Sector 37 with two state of the art depots for the buses to charge, DTC have allocated 10 more sites to various agencies for setting up EV charging stations and battery swapping stations to aid operating these buses as per Delhi EV Policy 2020.
