Vatva, Gujarat: Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, cut the ribbon on the swanky new Bhavishya Nidhi Bhawan for the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) at Vatva, Gujarat, on 26 December. It’s not just a building – he called it an “Aastha Ka Kendra”, a real hub of trust for workers’ hard-earned savings.
Speaking to a crowd that included MPs and MLAs like Shri Dinesh Makwana, Dr. Hasmukhbhai Patel, and Shri Amulbhai Bhatt, Mandaviya hammered home EPFO’s massive role. The fund now sits at a whopping ₹28 lakh crore, dishing out 8.25% annual interest with the full backing of the Government of India. “This is Shramik Ka Mandir,” he said, stressing that true service comes from integrity and values, honouring India’s labour force.
But the big news? A slew of reforms to make EPFO smoother and more worker-friendly. Upcoming and existing offices will morph into modern, tech-savvy single-window centres – think passport-seva-kendra style. A pilot’s already running in Delhi, meaning you can sort any EPF hassle at ANY regional office nationwide, no more hunting down your old one.
To help first-timers and non-digital folks, authorised EPF Suvidha Providers will step in as guides, bridging the gap to benefits and fixes. There’s also a mission-mode KYC drive targeting inoperative accounts, unlocking stuck money via a simple digital platform for claims.
Looking abroad, India’s Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) – like the India-UK one – will bake in social security protections, so returning workers keep their PF contributions and benefits.
Mandaviya painted a rosy picture under PM Narendra Modi’s watch. Social security coverage jumped from 19% pre-2014 to 64% now, praised by ILO and ISSA. That’s 94 crore people protected – second only to China globally. By March 2026, it’ll hit 100 crore. Amid global woes, India’s growing at 8.25% post-COVID, unemployment at a low 3.2%. EPFO’s gone digital: auto-settlements up to ₹5 lakh, 75% balance withdrawals, seamless transfers, and pan-India issue resolution.
He gave shout-outs to job-creating firms under Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY), Modi’s Independence Day push for 3.5 crore jobs in two years.
The Vatva office covers six Gujarat districts – Ahmedabad (partial), Anand, Kheda, Amreli, Botad, Bhavnagar – with 7,013 establishments, 3,97,676 members, and 21,000 pensioners as of December 2025. Built for ₹10.12 crore over 1,723.46 sqm, it’s eco-smart: solar plant, rainwater harvest, AC, backup power, underground parking, all accessible near NH-48, metro, and bus stops.
These steps scream commitment to dignified worker lives. As Mandaviya put it, when the economy booms, jobs follow – and EPFO’s evolving to match. Workers, your future just got a tech boost.
