The Union Housing and  launched the eighth edition of the annual cleanliness survey,Swachh survekshan 2023 ” during a virtual event held in the national capital on Tuesday. The survey’s theme for this year is “Waste to Wealth”, which is aligned to the Swachh survekshan mission (Urban) 2.0 and focuses on the central government’s vision of ‘garbage free’ cities.
In a statement, the Ministry said Swachh survekshan 2023 is curated towards achieving circularity in waste management. The survey would give priority to the principle of ‘3Rs’ – Reduce, Recycle and Reuse.
Addressing the launch event, Manoj Joshi, Secretary, (MoHUA) said that the Swachh Survekshan has developed into an inspiration tool, rather than being just an assessment tool. “This survey undertaken anywhere has brought about substantive changes at the ground level, with cities performing well having sense of pride,” he said.
He said that the Swachh Survekshan is not only important for the top performers, but also for the under-achievers, who must take steps to rise to the occasion, and do the needful.
