Medilytix bureau: Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited Grand Vitara SUV in September 2022. The company is also developing 3 new SUVs for the Indian market, which will be launched in the next few years. MSIL is developing a coupe-style crossover, which is internally called the Baleno Cross. Adding to this, the company will launch the 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV sometime in 2023.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross is slated to be unveiled at the 2022 Auto Expo in January 2023, while the launch could happen in February 2023. The new coupe-style crossover is expected to be based on Maruti’s lightweight HEARTECT platform that underpins the Baleno hatchback. It will also mark the re-introduction of Suzuki’s Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine.

Maruti may release a new 7-seater.

A new media report claims that Maruti Suzuki is also developing a new 7-seater SUV for the Indian market. This will be the flagship model of the brand and will be sold through the NEXA premium dealership network. Details about the new model are yet to be revealed.

The new 7-seater SUV is likely to be offered with the 1.5L K15C dual-jet petrol engine that also powers the Brezza and Grand Vitara. In addition to this, the SUV coupe also gets a Toyota-sourced 1.5L 3-cylinder TNGA Atkinson petrol engine with a robust hybrid technology. The engine produces 92.45PS of power, while the maximum usable power and torque are 115.5PS and 122Nm respectively. It comes with Toyota’s e-CVT, which is also offered on the global Yaris Cross Hybrid. Like the new Grand Vitara, the 7-seater SUV could also get Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD system along with the drive mode.
