Medilytix bureau: Tata motors NSE -0.12 % announced that it has won an order of 921 electric buses from the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation NSE 1.04 % (BMTC) on Thursday. Tata Motors is all set to supply, operate and maintain 12-meter electric buses as part of the large tender announced by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL). This will occur over a period of 12 years, as per the contract.

The company statement on Thursday said, “Tata Starbus is an indigenously developed vehicle with superior design and best-in-class features designed for sustainable and comfortable travel”.

The BMTC Managing Director G Sathyavathi also said, that the order is very essential for Bengaluru’s growing requirement for clean and sustainable public transport.

Tata Motors has also received orders for 1,500 electric buses from the Delhi Transport Corporation and 1,180 electric buses from the West Bengal Transport Corporation in the last 30 days.
